Voyage undertaken from Puerto Angamos, Atacama Desert, Chile to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia via the Patagonian Fjords, Magellan Strait, Atlantic Ocean, Gibraltar Strait and the Suez Canal. Extensive ship handling experience acquired with over 3,000 pilot transits and berthing/unberthing manoeuvres completed whilst holding pilot exemptions for the ports of Dover, Calais, Milford Haven, Dublin, Holyhead, the river Humber to Hull and Zeebrugge. In command of vessels having both conventional, and Azipod propulsion.Additional experience as deck officer gained on traditional geared, general cargo vessels fitted with deep tanks, geared container vessels ,and cruise ships, all trading worldwide. Also roll-on/roll-off paper product carriers where he gained ice navigation experience in the Baltic. As a marine consultant based in the Middle East, instructions carried out included incident investigations, provision of expert advice and expert reports on collisions, groundings, personal injury and fatalities, major oil cargo contaminations, bulk cargo contaminations, pollution, tank coating breakdown, cargo tank damage, and Notice of Readiness and charter party disputes.
