As sole developer my duties included all administrative work such as IT functions and all development. This includes software architecture, software design, graphics design, coding, testing, and release.Development was done using: HTML5.0, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP. Several projects required the use of several other web technologies such as: JSON and REST.

Kulicke & Soffa is a developer of semi-conductor manufacturing equipment, essentially high-precision robots that attach wires to microchips. I acted as the system software engineer for multiple development projects including the top-selling product line in K&S history. These complex machines involve mechanical, electrical, chemical, process, and software engineering. I was the interface to the engineers in these other areas, and responsible for the integration of new software with the new hardware, as a result, I had experience with all levels and areas of these machines. Initially much of my hands-on development work was in areas that played a supporting role for the machines' main functions including machine initialization, configuration, calibration, diagnostics, and the software installation process. Over time I took on the development of features and subsystems that no longer had a dedicated software engineer such as collision avoidance, programmable focus, temperature control, power failure recovery, battery backup, safety issues, and copy protection. I also became specialized in bondhead behavior, working directly with the mechanical and servo software engineers to create new ways to initialize, diagnose, calibrate, and optimize this critical subsystem. Due to the nature of this machine, which combined multiple systems, and subsystems, running multiple operating systems, and multiple communication protocols, the development work I did required the ability to work with a variety of hardware, operating systems, languages, and third-party and in-house software, that ranged from low-level embedded code to high-level user interface features and graphics. The main operating systems used were Windows, UNIX, and the UNIX version of vxWorks, a real-time OS. The languages were mostly C and C++, plus several proprietary languages for various 3rd party hardware subsystems.

This was a startup with a single project: a fault tolerant server that ran off-the-shelf peripheral boards and standard OS software. I was brought on to run the software department and to take on the role of system software engineer, where I was responsible for the main software architecture and oversaw a small team of developers. The architecture of this machine was somewhat unusual. It involved taking two identical, conditionally independent systems running in sync, plus a third system that controlled, observed, and compared the two synchronized systems. My hands-on duties included all system initialization functions, all fault detection and recovery software, system synchronization, and symmetric multi-processor support. Primary languages were 8086 Assembler and C. Target OS to run on servers were Windows NT and Linux. Linux was used as a development tool, due to the access to the source code which allowed inserting diagnostics, break points, and even test faults directly into the operating system code
