Taking my former experiences from Surface Mining into a Civils / engineering environment was a seamless change, Hitting the ground running in my new role.During my very brief time so far with CA Blackwell I have been influential in implementing new processes within the plant buying and hire procedures; Developed a new order process to manage and monitor closely the 1000+ items which are on hire at any one time over some 20 working sites.This was mainly to be used as a reporting tool to the senior management within the company to instantly be able to break down costs by site, supplier, category etc... This new process has been welcomed as a valuable tool to provide full visibility from a single point entry.Achievements:Saved £18,500 placing orders for the mobile plant since May 2015.Tendered supply Oils and Lubes to create an annual saving of £10,500.Currently reviewing PPE requirements to standardise and consolidate spend across all sites.

Scotland - Broken Cross Surface Mine, Near Douglas Water

My primary role was to source parts, materials & services for the best available price and delivery timescale, process orders and deliveries whilst ensuring minimal downtime to machines. I also provided a support role both Site Managers & Plant Fitters when attempting to source or identify the parts / services they require to specific timescale. I was the “can do” person ready for any task.In my time at HSM I learned about the plant we uses and can identify machines and parts required from drawings or parts lists, leaving the Fitters to spend their time carrying out repairs rather than completing paperwork. I have a good understanding with the terminology required to liaise with both Fitters and Suppliers. Requisitions were not blindly accepted and ordered; expensive items are policed to ensure they are required and not simply ordered as a “just in-case we need it” or extras for stock.Additionally I provided analytical reports to line managers, manage supplier KPI’s, databases & carry out costs saving exercises to ensure we have the best possible price & service available.I was been influential in improving operating processes within the buying department in this role.

Managing a Contract to manufacture and supply Safety Signage needs to a large MOD (Ministry of Defence) contract supplying signs & labels to all Army, Navy & RAF bases in the UK and abroad.Conspicuous success in my previous job role in Lìnburn Technology Ltd brought rapid promotion to this position in Sign Plus Ltd a multi-faceted role with a broad and challenging remit encompassing; The design of an access database system to deal with work orders from start to finish, including the raising of orders, delivery notes, address labels, invoices & updating of stock all from the simple input of the original details. Sending KPI (Key Performance Indicators) statistics to the MOD on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis. Project management, team leadership, client management and regular performance meetings with both the MOD and Sign Plus Ltd management.My involvement at every level of the business was aimed at ensuring that the highest standards of products, service and customer care are the primary aspirations and focus of all personnel. This key position involved harnessing and directing knowledge and expertise across various disciplines to ensure a coherent team approach to the successful completion and delivery of every project on time and to budget.
