Represent and provide legal support to financial services clients in business, compliance, and regulatory matters. The bulk of my practice involves on-going review of operations ensuring adherence to regulatory compliance requirements as well as representation through state and federal regulatory examination preparation, examination, and remediation and response, contract management (creation and negotiation), and consumer and business litigation management.

Chief architect of company’s quality and compliance management systems meeting and exceeding quality and regulatory requirements of the CFPB, Department of Education, state and local oversight bodies, financial services clients (primarily bankcard), and healthcare organization clients. Executive overseeing QMS and CMS functions and personnel, including creation and oversight of compliance committees, change management systems, consumer communication protocols, consumer complaint root-cause-analysis trending procedures, internal and external audit processes, and vendor oversight management. Created and fostered an extraordinarily strong and positive relationship with federal regulators through on-going open communication and unsolicited CMS review updates, including in-person high-level presentations promoting the establishment of industry regulatory standards. Oversaw and ensured compliance with federal government contracting regulations and contractual requirements. Provided legal support to all divisions of Van Ru including negotiation of all vendor and client agreements. Managed litigation defense through oversight of internal and external legal personnel.

Managed legal staff and all legal concerns for the company including those of compliance, human resources, contract negotiations and review, and litigation oversight.Prepared the organization for regulatory oversight and examination, creating and implementing the organization’s compliance management system and overseeing regulator relationship management.

Vice President of Operations and General Counsel for the Financial Services Division of accounts receivable company. Successfully managed an approximately $60 million annual revenue budget while consistently surpassing objectives to maintain a 22% margin. Improved performance and client relationships with a number of the nation’s largest bankcard creditors creating organic revenue growth. Oversaw, and accountable for, national multi-site operations of approximately 900 employees. Responsible for all departments of The Division including Operations, Support, Human Resources, Information Technology and Information Systems, Accounting, and Compliance. Responsibilities as General Counsel included: compliance and quality systems creation and executive management; contract negotiations and creation; litigation defense management overseeing internal and outside counsel throughout the U.S.; and, legal guidance to parent and division.Responsibilities as Vice President of Administration included management of Administrative Support, Human Resources, and Compliance Departments, together with operational accountability and for all corporate administrative expenses. Responsibilities as General Counsel included: research, creation, and endorsement of all client and vendor contracts; management of claims defense; and, legal guidance to parent and division.
