Responsible for conducting criminal investigations into fire and explosive incidents occurring in Iowa with a primary geographic area of nine counties in southwest Iowa. By utilizing the scientific method of fire investigation agents with the State Fire Marshal's Office conduct intense investigations to determine the cause of fires and explosions. If an intentional criminal act is discovered, the investigation will continue and include evidence collection, witness discovery, records collection, interview and interrogation and arrest. As a FBI certified explosives technician (bomb tech) I work closely with local law enforcement and fire officials to investigate potential explosives or explosive devices and when found conduct detailed render safe procedures to insure the safety of first responders and the public. I also assist local agencies with the continued criminal investigation related to these incidents to include post blast and threat investigations.In addition to the criminal investigations and explosive technician work, I also take great pride in providing training on a regular basis to both law enforcement and fire personnel. Courses include training in fire investigation with detailed focus on first responder responsibilities, motive of the fire setter, fatality investigation Meth Lab awareness and explosives. I have taught over 80 classes throughout Iowa to include teaching at the Department of Public Safety Academy, State Fire Marshal's Office 2 week Arson School, numerous regional fire schools, dozens of fire department and county association training sessions and three semesters at Iowa Western Community College as an adjunct instructor.

Provided flight line security for the NEACP (National Emergency Airborne Command Post) aircraft stationed out of Offutt AFB. Security assigned to this aircraft flew with the asset and provided security to the asset and its assigned personnel 24 hours a day.
