I have been working in the care industry for over 22 years.17of these have been with Aspens charities, working with individuals with Autism and learning difficulties. I am a staff trainer. The courses that I deliver are NAPPI, (None Abusive Psychological and Physical Intervention), which focus on getting to know the poeple that we support, understanding what behaviours are telling us and being more proactive in our support. Reducing stress factors and leading more meaningful person centred lifes. I also deliver First Aid training and Person centred active support. I also help, advise and motivate staff in some of the residential homes and day centres when those that are being supported display behaviours of concern, helping to identify triggers and putting strategies in place.Before becoming a staff trainer I worked as a sports co-ordinator running and overseeing a range of physical activities from walks, swimming, trampolining and various other sports courses involving sessions to enhance social skills, co-ordination, dexterity, confidence and overall fitness and well-being.I have had the pleasure of working with some amazing individuals getting to know them and how their autism and learning disabilities affect them. Working within a great team to help each person to bring out their individual personalities, build their confidence, abilities and help to enhance their quality of of life.
