John J. Upton is a valuation analyst specializing in the financial analysis of closely held companies and the industries with which they are allied. His analysis generates a multi-dimensional financial profile and provides insight into the economic environment in which the companies operate.Mr. Upton initially joined Atlantic Management as an intern during his senior year at The University of New Hampshire. Following graduation he was affiliated with Ernst and Young where he had a broad range of responsibilities including: valuing closely held companies, valuing reporting units of public companies for tax purposes, valuing intangible assets, and conducting goodwill impairment testing.Since re-joining Atlantic Management Mr. Upton has participated in a variety of valuation engagements including those conducted for ownership transition, stock options, corporate planning, and ESOPs.Mr. Upton is an Accredited Senior Appraiser Candidate having passed BV201, BV202, BV203, and BV204, and has also passed Level 1 of the CFA. He holds a BS degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the Whittemore School of Business at The University of New Hampshire where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He was also captain and treasurer of the Lacrosse Team.
