They were early pioneers in adoption of Microsoft Windows, and most of our systems were developed using Omnis Quartz (Windows based Rapid Database Application Development System) . Clients included Newsagents, Printers, Antique Dealers, Magazine Publishers, the Edinburgh International Film Festival and even a Private Detective agency.

Proteus were an early Apple Macintosh dealer. One of the directors developed systems in Omnis, a Database RAD system which originated on the Apple Mac (and was later made available for Windows). As he had too much work on, he took me on and gave me a month to learn Omnis, which I did, with a view to finishing his systems and develop new ones.
