After being discharged from the U.S. Air Force in 1979 I looked around for a job that gave me the comfort of being a unified group. In March of 1980 I started my law enforcement career at Nicholls State University as a campus police officer. In June of 1984 I started working for the Assumption Parish Sheriff Office as a road deputy. I worked every crime that fell while on duty from simple batteries to murder scenes. Being a small department we had no choice but to pull extra duties. In December of 1996 I then started my last leg of my law enforcement career as a Department of Public Safety police officer. My first assignment was with the Safety Enforcement Section where we work revocation of DL's and license plates. We also worked ID and DL fraud cases including Insurance fraud cases. When that section was abolish I was transferred to the Towing and Recovery section where we enforce the regulations on towing and storage companies. The when I was promoted to Sgt. of the Weights and Standards unit I handle writing of regulations for the Motor Vehicle Inspection Program and the enforcing of at the local weight stations and inspections of large trucks and enforcement of their max weights and sizes permitted by state and federal laws. After 34 total years of law enforcement I decided to retire as of 1/5/2014 this way I can let the younger officers handle the assignments that I use to perform and sit back and enjoy life with my wife and family. I very proud of my law enforcement career and of others that I have serve with and became friends with and buried those who have died in the line of duty or of illness while employed. I will miss all those that I have become friends and proud to call them brothers and sisters.
