Office and field based role, working in a challenging environment for a Tier 1 automotive supplier of exterior trim products. Dealing directly with automotive OEMs and reporting directly to the senior management team. Developing relationships and generating new business leads with customers such Nissan, Renault, Honda, Toyota, Pilkington and Saint-Gobain to grow sales and maximise profit margins in core-competency products. Working closely with colleagues in global head office in Japan, embracing Japanese culture and working practices. Also responsible for bid management and the complex costing of automotive RFQs, co-ordinating VA/VE cost reduction activities, project cost monitoring and departmental procedures.

Bid management of tender packages for the supply of bespoke, high integrity valves to the offshore oil and gas industry. Reviewing and commenting upon technical, commercial and contractual specifications and delivering timely and comprehensive bid documentation. Attending Bid Clarification Meetings with clients and acting as the customer’s representative within our company, liaising with colleagues throughout the business to ensure that we deliver compliant and competitive tenders, within our capabilities and in line with market conditions. Following order placement - having the responsibility to accurately communicate the customer’s needs to our business to allow the required valves to be designed, manufactured and project managed effectively and in accordance with customer specifications and statutory requirements.

Providing world-class levels of customer service in a rapidly expanding and highly successful market leader. Preparing quotations and documentation in response to customer enquiries; Offering suitable products in line with specifications, codes of practice and statutory requirements; Primary point of customer contact for technical assistance; Liaising with colleagues in multiple departments worldwide to ensure customer needs are met and, where possible, exceeded; Working closely with and providing analysis for Regional Sales Managers and Business Development Managers, and operating as a hub for communication between them.

Working from engineering drawings on a 2-shift system, to manufacture crankshafts and other components for SMA motors on a large horizontal CNC turning centre. Writing ISO CNC programs and working to tight tolerances and deadlines.

Working as part of a successful and self-sufficient sales and engineering team of 5 dealing with the day-to-day needs of, and working closely with, aerospace customers. Duties including: Preparation of cost and lead-time estimates in response to customer enquiries; dealing with suppliers and sub-contractors; Planning methods of manufacture and the preparation of internal routings; Method analysis; Project Management; Investigation of cause and the costing of internal and external rejects; General production engineering and trouble-shooting.

Woking from engineering drawings on a 3-shift system, to manufacture precision components for Aerospace and Commercial industries. Components varied in complexity and batch size. Writing all CNC programs (Mazatrol and ISO (Fanuc) controls) and working to close tolerances.

Working unsupervised from engineering drawings to manufacture small batches of precision mould dies and press tools for the automotive industry. Using both CNC turning centres (Heidenhain control) and centre-lathes and working to very close tolerances and tight deadlines.

Completed full apprenticeship working as part of an experienced and highly skilled toolroom team. Main duty was the manufacture and reconditioning of precision mould dies, press tools and test pieces.Received comprehensive training in the following methods of manufacture: CNC setting, programming and operating; Centre Lathe turning; Injection Moulding, Cylindrical and Surface grinding; Vertical milling; Jig boring; Engraving; Drilling; Bench fitting. Always working to tight tolerances and to meet deadlines.
