As a member of the Senior Management Team, I acted as the strategic advisor to the Board, Managing Partner and the Partnership team on the development of all internal and external communications work. Role includes: Developing and driving a communications strategy in line with A&LG’s overall vision and objectives; supporting Managing Partner and partnership on communication strategy; supporting delivery of effective internal communications strategy; acting as a key spokesperson; developing media campaigns to promote A&LG’s international brand and reinforce the organisation's reputation as a thought leader; management of media in crisis situations.

This role involves managing and orchestrating all internal and external global communications aimed at creating favourable point-of-view among stakeholders on which EY depends. Audiences in receipt of such communications include: EY’s partners and employees; international media; global clients, global regulators and the general public. My role is to help EY explain its purpose, combine its many visions and values into a cohesive message and communicate this to these stakeholders. Working directly with the firm’s Global leadership team based in Washington, New York and London, this covers: internal communications; media statements and interview Q&A; electronic newsletters and all high-profile speeches.

Reporting directly to the Country Managing Partner, this was the first time such a role existed in EY Ireland. It covered all five EY Ireland offices: Dublin; Cork; Limerick; Waterford and Belfast. It was created at a time when EY experienced a significant increase in reputational issues. My role included managing all crisis communication and creating EY Ireland’s first ever media relations strategy, which included: profiling EY’s partner group, designing and launching new EY thought leadership material and linking all aspects of media planning and execution to EY Ireland’s business development – both nationally and regionally. I designed and implemented media and internal communication campaigns across the island to support EY’s main flagship marketing programme – the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year programme. I also designed, edited and launched Ireland’s first ever all-island economic forecast – the EY Economic Eye. Launched twice yearly, this forecast rapidly built EY Ireland’s media profile by generating significant volumes of mainstream domestic and international print and broadcast coverage. In addition to this role, I was appointed to lead media relations for EY’s technology practice in the United Kingdom in 2009.

As a Client Manager I advised companies and organizations at their most senior levels on a full range of corporate communications including: reputation management; internal communications; media relations; public affairs and crisis management. I designed and delivered high impact corporate communications campaigns and strategies for clients. For example, I worked with CRH on a communications campaign to launch its first ever Corporate Responsibility project. This campaign won a Public Relations Institute of Ireland Award for ‘Best Corporate Responsibility campaign’ in 2008. As the sole member of the Drury team with expertise in internal communications and the use of new media, I was responsible for working with clients and pursuing all new business opportunities for Drury in these areas. Clients included: HP; Wyeth Pharmaceuticals; GlaxoSmithKline (GSK); Cement Roadstone Holdings (CRH); Aviva; Paddy Power; National University of Ireland Galway and Morse Telecom.

Working as part of the IBM Ireland Marketing team and reporting directly into IBM’s Country General Manager, I was responsible for enhancing and protecting IBM’ s brand in the Irish media and actively managing issues which had the potential to harm the company’s reputation. Specifically, I was responsible for designing and executing all of IBM Ireland's media relations strategy, designing media campaigns for individual business units and executing regional campaigns on behalf of the global executive team. I worked closely with the Industrial Development Authority of Ireland and the then state office of the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment during successive high-profile investments into Ireland announced by IBM.

Reporting directly to the Campus Director, I was responsible for designing and overseeing the internal communications on site for over 1,500 employees located at IBM’s global manufacturing headquarters, located in west Dublin. This included: drafting internal speeches and presentations; designing employee newsletters and creating employee engagement campaigns – all aligned to IBM’s global and domestic business strategies. I developed IBM’s first ever internal communications framework in Ireland. The strategy was designed to ensure clear, regular and comprehensive internal communications across the business – thus supporting the successful rollout of IBM’s business strategy.
