This role involves obtaining information from National Grid's AGI's documentation and site surveys, bringing this information together in a work pack to issue to CAD operators. On completion of the drawings they would then be given a final check for accuracy and detail before being issued to the client.

Involved in the change over of the control system for 2 Paper Machines and a Recycle Fibre Plant from Valmet Classic to Metso DNA . My involvement in the DCS upgrade consisted of site survey / investigation of loops and circuits, Factory Acceptance Tests ( at Metso Finland ), monitoring and reporting site progress against set program, ensuring works remain on target, assisting with commissioning of the system. Liaising with the Project Management team, consultants and installation contractors to ensure a seamless start up.Also responsible for the site management, Health and Safety, planning and co-ordination on a variety of multi disciplined installations including demolition of a Wood Chip handling system and Dye Dosing system. Ensuring that contracts are delivered on time, safely and within budget to the clients design specification and current legislation. The work was varied and could involve inductions for new contractors, auditing and compiling of Method Statements and Risk Assessments, completion of Permits to Work, compiling instrument and electrical scopes of work for tender and tender comparisons, estimating costs and controlling budgets, contractor selection, overseeing installation on various sites including a waste paper handling system at News International print works, pre and final commissioning of process instrument and electrical equipment. Completion of As Built documentation for the client's records. Compiling of punch lists ( deficiencies ) and comparing these to the requirements of the contract.Contract Values £1000 - £80,000,000.

Employed on contract reporting to the Senior Electrical / Instrumentation Engineer for the day to day site management of all the electrical and instrumentation installation work involved in the construction of a Recycled Fibre, Water Treatment, Sludge Handling and Effluent Plant. This involved relocation of a Chemical Storage area , design and organisation of all the temporary distribution system and contractors facilities , co-ordinating the installation of main plant 11KV distribution transformers , Motor Control Centres , all process electrical and instrumentation , lighting , plant earthing , fire detection equipment , data and phones and pre and final commissioning . Checking of consultant's designs, to ensure they conformed to current legislation and site standards .Co-ordination of multi-discipline activities to ensure co-operation between contractors. Contract QA, measure and valuation.Contract Value £34,000,000

Employed on contract reporting to the Project Electrical Engineer for electrical and instrumentation installations within a constant process environment. Liasing with maintenance personnel to ensure installations are completed safely and commissioned to the required standard with minimum down time.

Installation and maintenance contractor within the Paper IndustryResponsible for the day to day running of a team of between 8 - 30 electricians , involving installation , maintenance and shutdown work on equipment such as 11Kv transformers , Motor Control Centres , lighting and power , fire detection equipment, data and security equipment. Organisation of periodic, test & inspection routines for portable equipment on behalf of the client. Liaising with the client to meet installation deadlines and manpower requirements. Estimation and procurement of plant and materials from suppliers.

Electrical /ControlEmployed in a variety of roles within Generation & Distribution, Lighting and Small Power, Weapons and Control.Finally specialising in Generation and Distribution carrying out maintenance routines on motors and generators and starters, paralleling the distribution system with other generators and shore supplies as required.Other responsibilities involved sorting out watch keeping duties, day to day maintenance as well as break down response. Welfare of subordinates and training of junior tradesmen in use of test equipment and fire fighting techniques.
