In my current position I manage a staff of 2 Sergeants and 45 deputies. One of my Sergeants supervises a staff of eight deputies that handle the service of civil documents as well as the service of all criminal warrants that are obtained by other deputies and detectives. My other Sergeant supervises the 38 deputies that are assigned to the courthouse.

In my position as Sergeant, I managed a staff of 38 deputies. I was assigned to the Courthouse complex. I was responsible for the scheduling of work as well as training for all of my staff. We were responsible for the safety and security of all officials and members of the public who entered. We monitor the entries with metal detecting and x-ray equipment..

Colonial Beach is a small resort town located on the Potomac River in Westmoreland County Virginia. My responsibilities included patrolling in my marked police vehicle and enforcing the laws of the town, the Commonwealth of Virginia and the United States of America.

As an armed security officer, we had many responsibilities at the station. First and foremost was to protect against intrusion, attack or nuclear sabotage. We performed these duties with various means. I would perform both vehicle and walking patrols. I would man the main entry to screen people and vehicles entering the plant. I would search and escort.

I began my Law Enforcement career with Spotsylvania County in 1994. Once all of my initial training was complete, I was assigned to the courthouse. After only a few months I transferred to the Patrol Division. As a patrol deputy, we covered the roughly 400 square miles with only the 4 or 5 deputies on our assigned shift. I enforced all traffic and criminal.
