The freedom of co-owning a design firm has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my life.We relish the creative involvement with our clients and the discovery of appropriate design innovations that suit their needs. Great design can exist anywhere at some level in most things, it is always a pleasure to craft a better physical world and to see how people engage with it. Through the power of architecture and interior design we share our creative vision with clients and help to give their own vision form in the real world.

Working for PFVS gave me valuable experience in hospitality design and an understanding of the complexity of hotel programs. The talented principals of the firm provided opportunity and mentoring that I will always be thankful for.

Working for TV&A was a great experience. In the short time I had with this office I participated on teams that worked on large projects convention center projects. The technical competency and design resources at TVS&A were first rate. My time with TVS&A also helped me to realize that I prefer the culture of small firms and the intense creative energy they promote.

Francois Deslaugiers was considered by some to be a "French Norman Foster", but was a true world class architect in his own right. I was loaned to his office for a time and had the privilege to work on the glass courthouse at Nanterre located just outside Paris on the edge of La Defense. The work included a passion for technical and design innovations that were truly state of the art at the time. One of Deslaugiers favorite maxims was that details do not parachute out of the sky. We were thus constantly challenged in our design work to find systems and rules that would govern a particular creative work. The rigor of syntax often carried us to a new place and resolution of the details.

Hauvette was a world class architect. His creative designs were supported by intellectual positions, informed by a personal philosophy for controlling form. Working for him was a privilege. Being part of a world class team where ones ideas are rigorously tested was very fulfilling. I worked on several projects and competitions over the years in his office and will always consider him a great master architect. Christian passed away in 2011, leaving behind an important body of work.

I joined the USAF after high school and found a family with a serious mission. The professionalism and team work of the Air Force still inspires me. Being a part of this family in service to our country adds special meaning and a type of camaraderie that is hard to explain. I primarily worked on water, gas, and fire suppression systems. Direct exposure to amazing aircraft, machines, and structures that ranged from inflatable buildings to bunkers made a great impression. Prime BEEF (Base Engineer Emergency Force) deployments included Italy and Oman. Additional specialized training as a ski patroller in southern Germany on loan to the the US Army, as a bomb removal driver (loader and dump truck after EOD did their more important work), and with the Bitburg base denial force added adventure to my time with USAF. I was awarded the Air Force Achievement Medal after my time in Germany. I left USAF to continue my college education full time and to forge a career in design. I was stationed at Bitburg Air Base, Germany, 1982-1984, 36th TFW and Langley Air Force Base, Virginia, 1984-1986 Ist TFW.
