Former Royal Marines Commando, recently achieved first class honours BSc Ocean Science with Marine Conservation at the University of Plymouth. After a military career specialising in maritime interdiction operations, deploying around the globe to conduct counter narcotics, human and weapons trafficking missions, I have now turned my ambition and professionalism towards conservation. My experience with ocean science includes: U.K. coastal taxonomy; CTD, ADCP, side scan sonar, chemical and biological data collection from university research vessels; data analysis and manipulation using MATLAB, R and ArcGIS.For my dissertation research project, I investigated the relationship between exposure to ocean-based media and perception of marine conservation, interrogating the data collected from 760 participants using R statistics software. Please do ask me about my results!Alongside my studies, I worked as a student ambassador, rock pool safari guide and part time cleaner, as well as being an active member of Greenpeace Plymouth and outspoken campaigner for environmental issues.I regularly enjoy open water swimming, cycling and running, and completed an iron distance triathlon in September. I compete and coach in the sport of CrossFit and attempt to satiate my voracious curiosity with science podcasts and books.Having completed my degree and moved to New Zealand, I hope to use the diverse knowledge, skills and experience I have to maximal effect in a conservation career.
