About John Williamson
As of late February, 2022, I have now come full circle and am now back in Ottawa working as an electronics engineer once again. I am very glad about my return to Ottawa but do not for a moment regret my experiences in the UK and then China. In June 2017 I earned my TEFL certification and gained employment as a high-school English teacher in Liuzhou, China. Since then I have moved on and now teach three different courses in English at Guangxi University of Science and Technology or its Lushan College. However, I am still interested in the mathematical side of electrical engineering and continue to develop IP when time allows. I continue to be interested in the subject matter of my latest patent (clock waveform shaping) which granted in July 2018. Over the last twenty-five years I have held Senior Engineer (individual contributor) and management positions. There are advantages to both. More recently I was a Principal Engineer. In this capacity, I have led a team which has designed consumer electronics (set-top boxes), captured and refined the processes which govern their development and created IP leading to the afore mentioned patent. It is this last endeavour which has provided me with the greatest satisfaction. It is here that I can use my mathematical skills creatively which I believe is the essence of engineering.
