I worked for IBM’s customer Engagement, and Business Integration Services competency. My main responsibility was to define, and implement, robust Quality lead processes, to ensure compliance for the asset management of hardware, and the software license management solutions during a new customer engagement and implement this for a successful BAU hand over. In this capacity, I supported various new contract customers, including: Carphone Warehouse, Friends Provident, Diageo, Southwest One. QBE & Scottish Power. I have responsibility to develop integrated, end to end, Asset Management processes that ensured legal, financial, and QA contractual obligations were compliant. Then certify these processes are robust to audit, that they are enforceable, and can be policed via embedded process and QA KPI within agreed Business controls.

As a recognized Subject Matter expert, I was a member of an IBM European wide team, tasked to define IBM’s response to the EU Directive on Electrical and Electronic Product waste. (WEEE Directive). Note during this time, I represented IBM on the following external bodies: [A] DTI & Scottish Parliament WEEE Consultative Committee [B] Electronics Scotland WEEE Consultation committee. [C] Member of the Board -Scottish Recyclers Network. I worked as a Freelance Consultant on Asset Management /PELM Business development. Started with blank sheet of paper, I was the lead Engineer in developing, IBM Greenock’s hardware recycling programmes. Notably, this work underpinned IBM’s ISO14001 accreditation, and netted c.£25M revenue to IBM Greenock, over 3 years.

I was a Procurement/QA Engineer in IBM Greenock, and at their Environmental affairs competency in IBM PC Company’s HQ in New York. My Procurement QA experience Included Tool design, Purchasing, QA, and Supplier QA Management. in the UK, and Europe, & at times having a broader international remit. I had responsibility for vendor spends of over £100M / Annum. My field was the procurement, QA & Prod. Eng. of plastic parts, tooling, part production, and materials. I undertook contract negotiation, cost reduction, Capital and Asset planning, Project Eng., production and QA, Process improvement / Cost estimation / Cost reduction & Lean Manufacturing. I am also qualified as a level 1 practitioner of MTM, a form of time and motion study. I have worked with, and within, the following QA standards:General tool room and Inspection Lab standards to 0.00254mm.; ISO 9001.; ISO 14001; ISO/IEC 19770.(I have audit experience of these and also of Vendor evaluations. I was Senior Engineer of IBM’s plastics injection mould shop. the largest, most advanced plastics injection mould shop in Scotland. I won IBM’s Corporate Technical Excellence Award for development and implementation of, the world's 1st PVC recycling process for an original use application.Pivotal to plastics recycling industry World wide. I gave media sessions, on this subject, ie, TV news broadcasts, magazine interviews, and presentations to bodies such as the UK NEL in Teddington, England; The Centre for Environmental Awareness in Washington DC; IBM Customer awareness programmes in Paris; and presentations to the WWF in San Francisco. I was assigned to the Corporate HQ in IBM Somers, New York, USA, where I had responsibility for the development of a product take back strategy for the IBM PC Company products, World wide. I represented IBM on the following bodies: DTI & Scottish Parliament WEEE Consultative Committee. Electronics Scotland WEEE Consultation committee. Member of the Board -Scottish Recyclers Network.
