NCUA regulates and insures deposits for the Credit Union industry. Founded the Office of the Chief Economist in mid-2010 and now lead a team of economists focused on the regulation of U.S. credit unions – with over one trillion dollars in assets. Key areas of concentration: •Developing and communicating views on current conditions of key importance to credit union performance including employment situation, real estate markets and fiscal and monetary policy. Communication vehicles include a weekly economic roundup, YouTube videos, and press and industry outreach.Developing and deploying model based risk assessments and forecasts for credit union industry and individual credit unions. •Supporting credit union policy development and rule writing.•Working closely with other US government regulatory bodies and policymakers, in particular coordinate NCUA activities with the Financial Stability Oversight Council on broader issues related to financial stability and oversight.
