Director Of Development And CommunicationsBiocharonsite Oct 2023 - PresentFocus on advancing Biochar On Site (BOS) production to address critical challenges in wildfire mitigation, forest health, ecosystem resilience, and sustainable land management. This role combines a commitment to sustainable practices with effective storytelling to foster innovative solutions for environmental stewardship and carbon management.The BOS program emphasizes low- to mid-technology systems for safe and responsible biomass management, converting troublesome biomass into valuable carbon products for local use. Methods range from conservation burns, trench and pit burns, and fire box practices (such as the Ring of Fire, Big Box Biochar, and UBET Oregon Kiln), to mid-tech systems like air curtain burners, mobile pyrolyzers, and portable gasifiers.Originally launched as "Biochar in the Woods" under the leadership of Kelpie Wilson, the program was supported by USBI and other contributors. This new configuration builds on that foundational work, expanding efforts to provide practical, scalable solutions for on-site biochar production and application. -
