I started at Home Depot when I launched Ginger Beds as a way to bring in some income while I was growing the business. It has been a great experience working within a large nationwide company as I have always been self employed.Since closing Ginger Beds I have been asked to move into a management role but have decided against that as I am looking for a new adventure to conquer.

I launched Ginger Beds in 2016 and hand crafted amazing dog beds in Portland, Oregon. I taught myself how to sew and the beds I made were much loved by every dog who had one. (No longer live) When we moved to Bend, Oregon, I moved the business as well and built out a local production workroom in Bend.I traveled to High Point, North Carolina once per year to visit the fabric markets in order to source design-minded, yet durable fabrics. The components of my beds were upholstery grade so in addition to being comfortable, they were extremely durable. Knowing that plastic in our waterways and oceans is a huge problem, I found a filling for my cushions that was made entirely of recycled plastic water bottles. My mission was to Pay It Forward so I partnered with a non-profit in an effort to bring about positive changes in the world. I donated a portion of every sale to K9S For Warriors based in Ponte Vedra, FL. They train and provide therapy dogs to our veterans with PTSD and over 95% of their dogs are rescues, thereby saving two lives.This was a true labor of love and it pained me greatly to close the business down late in 2023. I founded Premier Window Coverings in the basement of our home in 1998. We provided custom window coverings to the residential and commercial markets in the Portland area. We achieved first year sales of $775K and grew steadily from there. When I launched the business, we were a shop-at-home service wherein our design staff would visit our client's home or business to help them choose the best solution for their needs. In 2005 we opened our first retail showroom in order to better showcase our product offerings. This had an immediate impact and lead to us achieving our peak annual sales of $2.1M. We became an exclusive Hunter Douglas Dealer and was one of the top independent dealers in the State of Oregon.In 2010 I purchased a drapery workroom to extend our product offerings. The workroom was rebranded as Thimble and we generated a positive ROI in 12 months.My duties within the organization's early days were sales, installations and management of all operations. As we grew our staff, I was able to relinquish some of those duties and moved into more of a GM / COO role. Our peak staff headcount was 15 team members and we had three locations. Show less

Thimble was a custom drapery workroom that I had purchased as a way to expand our product offerings at Premier Window Coverings.In our production facility we hand crafted custom soft goods such as draperies, valances, cornices, pillows, bedding and just about anything else made of fabric.With our extensive client base at Premier Window Coverings, we were able to generate sales through Thimble that lead to a positive ROI within 12 months of purchasing the workroom.
