Raised by 2 teachers, I earned my B.S. in Biology with certification to teach. I taught junior high for 2 years before going back to school for my Masters in Counseling Psychology. I worked in community mental health for a year as a school-based counselor. Following my experience in community mental health, I relocated and started working in a residential treatment center for adolescents. While working in this residential setting, I worked as a counselor, a manager and an assessment counselor. I gained skills in treatment of disruptive behaviors, sexual behaviors, family therapy and coordination of care with state agencies. I worked for a time reviewing cases for re-certification with insurance agencies before starting as an internal clinical consultant. During this time, I reviewed treatment plans and coached counselors toward building skills in therapeutic interventions and planning. In early 2012, I started my private practice and conceptualized a somewhat different approach toward clinical supervision and counselor preparations. I am now expanding my practice to include a multidisciplinary and diverse counseling and consulting agency. I am focusing on providing a balanced, fulfilling and developmental environment for new counselors to build skills in developing, preparing and operating their own private practice. While my company will always put our client's needs and care as our priority, I also ensure that the counselors receive the training and development necessary to become well-rounded, specialized and confident clinicians willing to replicate this training model.
