Deputy Director managing daily support operations and providing operational guidance and direction across two separate locations for a team of up to 11 personnel. Charged with directorate personnel management, policy and procedure development, and facilities oversight.

Managed the personnel and equipment structure of more than 743 units and nearly 67,000 personnel in the Army’s Engineer Regiment. Selected for the position based on significant personnel and resource management experience guiding the careers of nearly 15,000 Active Duty Enlisted Engineer Soldiers and Sergeants. Directly responsible for integrating Engineer Regimental force structure into force management processes -- Total Army Analysis, Army Command Plan, Force Design Updates, Unit Stationing, and Organizational Requirements Approval Briefs. Gained familiarity with the Structure and Manpower Allocation System (SAMAS). Intellect, dependability and meticulous attention to detail earned selection over 10 other structure managers to be the G-3/5/7’s lead project officer for the development of the Chief of Staff of the Army’s initiative, Security Force Assistance Brigades (SFAB).

Directed a 12-person team that managed the personnel inventory and career paths of more than 18,000 Active Duty Enlisted Engineer Soldiers and Sergeants and career paths for 17 distinct occupational specialties in the Active Component. Ensured personnel assignment decisions also provided opportunities for career advancement and considered family concerns. Planned, coordinated, directed, controlled and managed all day-to-day operations.

Led a four-soldier Security Force Advise and Assist Team (SFAAT) to Afghanistan to train and mentor the Afghan Border Police. Advised and mentored a newly formed Afghan National Army battalion. Used leadership, team building and training skills to create a cohesive and successful team of advisors who came from separate units with different skill sets and operational experiences. Team Building - demonstrated flexibility by expanding the team’s mentoring effort to include the Afghan Local Police. Synergy created between the national and local police resulted in greater provincial police presence and more combined operations.

Commander of an Engineer Training Support Battalion comprised of Active and Reserve Component Soldiers. Led daily operations and directly provided administrative policy and training guidance for a training organization of 50 senior training managers and support staff. Responsible for equipment and property valued at more than $3M. Planned, executed and evaluated combat-tailored training for more than 25 Army Reserve and National Guard units ranging in size from 75 to more than 500 people.

Engineer Plans Officer and Chief of Basing for the United States Forces – Iraq J-7. Oversaw the daily status tracking of the disposition of all U.S. bases in Iraq. Led a 10-person team that managed U.S. base closures and property turn-in for more than 320 bases affecting over 250,000 military and civilian personnel for Multi-National Corps-Iraq (Fifth U.S. Corps) and United States Forces-Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
