I am now the full-time Director of the UK's leading domestic election observation group - Democracy Volunteers. We observe elections across the UK, as well as in other countries, assessing them compared to the standards set by their electoral laws of that country. I also work in the areas of UK politics and American Politics, political history as well as public history. I was recently commended by the Royal Historical Society for my work on a film documentary - receiving a commendation in their 2015 Public History Prize. My PhD was interdisciplinary focusing on the impacts of political campaigns on elections. My research, at Bristol, assessed the impacts of text messaging on stakeholder engagement in state schools in the UK. At Exeter I worked on the team, led by Professors Dan Stevens and Susan Banducci, working on an ESRC-funded project for the British Election Study.
