I am responsible for the overall strategy for Democracy Volunteers. The organisation observes elections across the UK and provides evidence based analysis of our results to electoral authorities within the UK.We report on election observation to local councils, the Electoral Commission and to Government. We have recently reported on parliamentary by-elections and the UK's 2019 General Election, the 2020 Irish General Election as well as many other elections within the UK and Europe.We have observed in Finland, The Netherlands, Slovakia, Norway, Sweden and Gibraltar as well as conducting virtual election observations in the United States in 2020. We have secured funding from the Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust Ltd. to observe the elections within the UK from 2017-2024. We have observed local elections in England and Northern Ireland as well as numerous by-elections and special elections. I also led the largest observation of a UK general election in UK electoral history in December 2019 with a team of 200 observers across over 120 UK parliamentary constituencies.My primary role is the strategic direction and management of the UK's largest independent mon-partisan election observation group. We are presently working on the elections of May 2021 and how they will be conducted, especially in the light of the Covid-19 pandemic.I have also acted as an Elections and Campaigns specialist for the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA BIMR) on their Election Expert Mission to Guernsey 2020 and to the Isle of Man in 2021.

I was an Associate Research Fellow on the British Election Study, based at the University of Exeter, based at Penryn in Cornwall. Lecturing American politics, British politics and British political history. I also conducted seminars in micro-history and tutor as part of the Russell Group's Realising Opportunities programme across Cornwall. In addition to this I was Director of the Cornish Audio Visual Archive.I designed and then led lectures on the University's modules POC3025 (Elections, Campaigns and Referendums: Public Opinion in Practice), POC2078/3078 (Representing Politics - US Presidents and UK Prime Ministers in Film and TV) and POC2079/3079 (Electing the President - US Elections 1976 - 2016).

I work on a joint research project between the University of Bristol, Harvard University and Queen's University, Belfast. The research is focused on evaluating the potential impacts of text messaging on stakeholder engagement.The research is financed by the Educational Endowment Foundation and is led by Professor Todd Rogers (Harvard Kennedy School) and Professor Simon Burgess (University of Bristol).

I designed and delivered, through lectures and seminars, a second year module on 'The Modern American Presidency' looking at the various modern theories of the US Presidency (Schlesinger, Barber and Widalsky et.al.) from Harry Truman to Barack Obama. I also lectured on the Political Research and Practice module, with specific reference to evaluating public opinion through polling and focus groups.

Chair of the ERS governing Council with overall responsibility for overseeing all the work of the organisation. The company is primary owner of a number of subsidiary companies running international engagement programmes through ERIS and offering ballot and election services.The Electoral Reform Society was the primary funder of the Yes to Fairer Votes campaign in 2011 after which I became chair. The Society was formed in 1884 by John Lubbock with the intention of creating a more representative electoral system.

The OSCE is responsible for observing the democratic elections of the former Warsaw Pact and NATO countries. As such I monitored, with a team of over 250 other international observers, the early parliamentary elections in this former Soviet republic in 2012. Based in the capital city Astana and Ust-Kamenogorsk (Oskemen) which lies near the Russian, Chinese and Mongolian border.

I led the regional campaign for the 2011 referendum to deliver a Yes vote in the referendum on the Alternative Vote. In this role I was responsible for delivery the field campaign for the Yes campaign.I primarily worked in the Manchester office but also worked with colleagues across the country as one of the lead campaigners delivering the national campaign strategy.

A company offering design and marketing advice and support to clients across the UK, including branding and telemarketing. We worked with a number of political clients from the present leader of the Liberal Democrats, Tim Farron MP, to local council elections and beyond electoral politics.We worked with the Behavioural Insights Team to conduct a large-scale phone survey of parents across 31 schools in the UK in pursuit of a 'nudge' policy research exercise.

As Head of Office I was responsible for staff management, budgeting and all public engagement from the office except for the casework operation. Liaising with Westminster and constituency staff I had overall responsibility for media and campaigns.

Member of the South West Regional Assembly and Joint Chair of Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park. Whilst Chair of Mount Edgcumbe the park received the award as 'Best Public Park' from the Royal Horticultural Society and I oversaw a £1.1 million regeneration project on the estate.

Managed elections across the UK including several parliamentary by-elections and the 2003 National Assembly elections in Wales.

I was responsible for getting the local candidate elected to parliament. We achieved a 12% swing and elected the first Liberal Democrat MP in the constituency for 23 years.
