Senior Bas Combat Medic
Current- United States Army Medical Center and School - Ft. Sam Houston, Texas- TXARNG HHC 3/144th Inf Medical Platoon BAS - Ft. Worth, TexasProvide medical treatment to wounded soldiers. Typically responsible for the healthcare needs of 40 or 50 Soldiers in a combat arms (infantry, field artillery or engineer) units. Conducted formal sick call for soldiers and spent significant time daily talking to and monitoring those Soldiers.Performed at every stage of medical treatment in a combat zones and clinical settings. Initiated medical treatment at the accident or injury location, maintained medical treatment during evacuation to healthcare facilities, and provided medical treatment in the medical facilities. Worked alongside Army PAs, or doctors under their respective jurisdiction and licensure. Administered immunizations, collected bodily fluid samples for lab analysis, obtained vitals and initial information from patients/casualties, treated trauma patients, sutured, and served as surgical assist. Mainly worked in the absence of PA's and Doctors. While in field medical units like aid stations, forward surgical teams, and the Triage/EMT (ER) section of a CSH, provided almost all of the medical treatment. Worked as the senior enlisted person in a clinical setting, as well as the Acting Platoon Sergeant of a medical platoon in field units. Performed daily, monthly, and annual training for soldiers to better help them in assisting with the treatment of fellow wounded or injured soldiers.
