Founded the Geisinger Medical Center (GMC) Hospitalist program in 2000. Between 2000 and 2012, the GMC hospitalist program increased from six physicians to almost thirty, increased discharge five-fold and expanded from 11% to almost 40% of the hospital's discharges.The Geisinger Health System expanded from one hospitalist program to seven in central and northeast Pennsylvania academic and community hospitals. The system employs over 60 hospitalists and over 50 advanced practitioners. The program also provides academic support for Geisinger Internal Medicine and Family Medicine residency programs.

The American Osteopathic Association's (AOA) Program and Trainee Council (PTRC) is the accrediting body for osteopathic graduate medical education programs in the United States. It is comprised of representatives of each specialties eductional evaluating committee. I was a member of the Council, representing internal medicine (ACOI) from 2003 to 2013. I served as Vice-chair from 2004 to 2009 and chair from 2009 to 2013.

AODME is a professional association that represents the interests of the entire continuum of clinical osteopathic medical education.I was chair of the first AODME and American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) joint annual meeting in 2008.I was on the Board of Trustees from 2006 to 2014, serving as president in 2011-2012. During my year as president a major bylaws revision was passed. The AODME clarified its focus on clinical osteopathic medical education, a new strategic plan was formulated, and Osteopathic Postgraduate Training Organizations (OPTIs) were incorporated into the governance of the AODME. During this year we also formalized discussions with the AACOM for a further collaboration. AODME is now AOGME (American Osteopathic Graduate Medical Educators) and part of AACOM.
