Leader of the chemistry lab operations of a joint data/proteomics research group. Responsible for the daily workings of a dual-linear ion trap mass spectrometer and associated nanoscale liquid chromatography system. Direct the work of a lab technician who specialized in HPLC separations. Process biological samples delivered by collaborators to prepare them for HPLC-LCMS/MS analysis, and then conduct analysis. Contribute to development of a massive online database of relative and absolute protein expression in a wide range of species, localizations, and disease states. Serve as consultant to data side of lab for all chemistry-related information required.

Worked towards developing clinical assays for assorted enzymatic deficiencies of the heme biosynthetic pathway. Established Tandem MS and LC/MSMS methods for the detection of the relevant compounds. Worked with our clinical partner to test the assays on a wide range of samples. When necessary, synthesized compounds not commercially available. Techniques practiced include tandem quadrupole mass spectrometry, ion trap mass spectrometry, HPLC, silica column chromatography, NMR spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and basic synthetic techniques.
