CurrentMetaLevels - A Forum for Change, Principal, currentBACKGROUNDI started Metalevels because I saw a gap between current practices, forms of organization, and strategic approaches and the reality of a connected world. Key issues which we all face, from the wealth gap to global warming, are not yielding to mainstream approaches. Since starting this I've come to realize that business is one of many areas trying to find solutions in yesterday. To my knowledge, this approach has never helped. Circumstances change, environments change, even the nature of change changes. We need more than a reversion to history, real or imagined.Metalevels, A Forum for Change is intended to explore and build a body of practice on change, in hopes of offering a foundation for meaningfully addressing our hopes.CURRENT WORKAt base, what we’re doing is working with others to rethink current cultures and assumptions in a connected world. The wide accessibility of data, combined with the application of widely differing logics and cultures in the process of making information out of that data, has changed the nature of business, government, and education. To this end, we developed and led courses that combined business topics and the liberal arts for Wyzsca Szkola Europejska, a private university in Krakow, Poland. This work was under a grant from the European Union. These courses were based in research conducted while writing my Ph.D. and teaching and conducting workshops at universities in the U.S. and Europe, as well as decades of transformative work with companies such as Eli Lilly, Medtronic, AT&T, the Hartford Insurance Group, and Texaco. We recently published a book, Wealth and the Culture of Management (available at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VJJ7VXJ) which provides an introduction to the concepts on which this teaching and this work are based. If you are facing situations that do not seem to respond to "normal" approaches, please contact us. We may be able to help.
