Managing the Barclays Diamond store situated in the very busy designer store center in Livingston where the USP is high quality diamond sales.My key responsibilities in this role are to set, communicate and achieve store targets through interpreting KPI's and sales reports and deploying appropriate action to develop my team to consistently achieve maximum sales performance.Recognize and capitalize on new business opportunities, both in sales and product development to match local markets. Develop a marketing strategy to maximize business locally. This has included taking part in promotions and fostering business relationships with other employers within the area.Recruiting high quality management and staff to meet the business growth. I also train, support, develop and appraise my team to constantly achieve increasing standards required to remain a market leading company, in this very competitive market. I do this by producing and delivering team and personal coaching sessions on a daily basis appropriate to the team and individuals needs as well as encouraging distance learning.Operationally, I ensure my team are fully compliant with company Policy and Procedures, managing best practice in all areas including, health and safety, stock control and drive a very high level of store visual merchandising.Recently I have been supporting a new management team in the neighboring Chisholm Hunter store.

This role was to build an Audit and Compliance Department, develop a policy & procedure framework which would deliver structured support for the planned growth of the business.The most crucial task was to consolidate the company stock file, understand the reasons why it's integrity had been compromised and develop and deliver training, which would reverse this problem.In dealing with these issues I was able in consultation with the company directorate and department heads to deploy a Policy and Procedures manual. I continue to be involved in updating and enforcing any developments.

My role with Anthony Karpe was to develop the diamond, jewelry and quality watch areas within the business, which had its roots firmly in the giftware sector. Along with developing and training staff and management for new stores. I was also involved in procuring, installation and training for a major system update that would operate across both the retail and warehousing sections of the business.

Initially I was approached to open and run the then newly acquired store in East Kilbride, I moved soon afterwards to Stirling to further develop a large unit in a busy town center mall. This store quickly grew to be the highest turnover store within the company through staff and product development.

In many years employed at H Samuel I progressed through differing roles from management trainee to senior store manager with secondments to the training department to assist in rolling out major projects across the company.Additional ExperienceI have been a Group Scout Leader for 20 years. This involves managing a large group of adult volunteers and most importantly guiding young people as they progress within scouting to adult service. This has given me an opportunity to enjoy my passion for the outdoors. I hold a scout regional appointment as a kayak instructor and have a Mountain Leader Award and advanced first aid certificate.
