McKinney - Vento tutoring program is for students who are identified as transitioning homes or living with grandparents. These are services that offer tutoring all subjects as well as social skills if they are needed. As a tutor, I look at testing data and talk with teachers to see what each student needs the most work on. I meet with each student to work on skills that have been identified. I am able to work one-on-one with each student in math and reading as well as any other subject they need help with. I enjoy being able to work with these students and staff members to help these students achieve better test scores along with achieving any goals they have set for themselves.

Greenup County Schools is a rural school district in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, where Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia meet. The district is technologically progressive, with over 95% of classrooms considered “Intelligent Classrooms”.As a substitute teacher, I fulfilled long-term and short-term contracts, giving me the opportunity to develop lesson plans and motivate students to educational success.I was fortunate to work one-on-one with students as an Instructional Assistant, assessing test scores and improving math and reading skills.The times I found most fulfilling were the hours spent analyzing and assessing student skills, allowing me to collaborate with teachers in developing effective instructional strategies.
