Wipe Out Kids' Cancer (WOKC) is the nation's oldest pediatric cancer non-profit. Founded in 1980 by Cindy Brinker Simmons, the mission is to provide assistance to kids and families battling pediatric cancer and help in finding a cure by funding novel research. In the United States, over 15,800 children are diagnosed each year with cancer. Tragically, 1 in 8 will not survive. WOKC finds this unacceptable! WOKC has 3 core programs. The Buddy Bag Program is given to kids with an overnight hospital stay. The Warrior Program last for a calendar year and provides entertainment for the entire family. The third program is the funding of novel pediatric research that would have otherwise not been funded. Only 4% of the federal cancer research budget goes to pediatric cancer projects.
