Successfully designed and led development team to implement new Internet-based service to connect health care institutions to governments using the then-emerging Internet. Invented and deployed secure communications technology using public key security technologies (PKI) later adopted by the federal government. Helped develop health information policies and guide federal government toward a national health care information exchange system. Acquired by Bain Capital in 2008.

Successfully built a state-wide health care information exchange network called MEDNET. The network supported electronic commerce for Minnesota health care system participants, including a management team consisting of the Commissioner of Health and a twenty-member Board of Directors representing consumers, purchasers, providers, health plans, and public agencies.The Minnesota Health Data Institute [MHDI] was a public-private partnership established by the Minnesota Legislature in 1993 [Minn. Stat. 62J.451] to support the information needs of multiple constituencies in measuring and improving the quality and cost-effectiveness of health care services in Minnesota.

Led the technical design, development and deployment of the Minnesota Cancer Surveillance System (MCSS), a state-wide cancer registry, one of the first in the country. This system monitors overall cancer cases to discover best practices and focus public health resources. Organized and developed the Statewide Network Access Planning (SNAP) users group that successfully developed the Minnesota state Intranet, MNET, now the backbone for MN state government operations. Successfully wired Minnesota state and local governments, schools and related services with low cost Internet services.

Designed and implemented grid-tied energy management systems controlling power generation and distribution at CDC’s Advanced Applications area of the Energy Management Systems Division. Worked in R&D to develop next-generation energy management applications and database architectures. CDC's Energy Management Division was one of the most successful CDC business units, providing control systems solutions that managed as much as 25% of all electricity on the planet. In 1989 this division was renamed Empros and was later sold to Siemens.
