Created and led the media innovation program, Reese News Lab, at the School of Media and Journalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel HillOrganized, coached and mentored interdisciplinary teams of 40+ graduate and undergraduate students in the Lab. Teams conceptualized, developed and market tested new media products and services in the form of a "pre-startup." Students focused on answering three questions: (Desirability) Does anyone actually need this? (Feasibility) Can it be done? (Viability) Can it be financially sustainable? I was based in the School of Media and Journalism where I also developed curriculum and taught News Lab and Leadership in Digital Media Economics classes. I also co-led the Introduction to Entrepreneurship class in the UNC entrepreneurship minor program housed in the UNC economics department.

Led the 30-person WRAL.com team, set our vision and managed the organization with regards to revenue, product development, and content across multiple platforms including the Internet, mobile, social media and other evolving technologies.

Led the yearlong project to rebuild WRAL.com from business, content and sales to staffing, technology and hosting. The project was completed on time, to specification and under budget.

Developed curriculum and taught beginning and advanced Internet design and communication classes.

Co-created News Over Wireless, a Capitol Broadcasting Company business which developed the first mobile application for local TV stations. Designed and developed the automation system that powered the WRAL NewsChannel, the first, full-time local news channel in North Carolina. Managed content and development for an experimental datacasting service to deliver news and information through digital television subchannels.

Worked with co-founders to establish and incorporate appcomm, inc as an Internet services provider that provides web site development, hosting, remote backup services, audio streaming and network support for clients.

Served as the liaison between Internet Broadcasting and WRAL for website content and technology.
