As an employment advisor, I often over achieve my target of helping so many clients find sustainable employment. Having worked primarily from the Sunderland branch I have gained an excellent understanding of the local labour market. I worked my way up to lead advisor which meant more responsibilities; such as being a signatory when advisors required finance for their clients, also having a daily team meeting every morning to give colleagues their focus of the day, for example if any employers are taking on or any training providers are offering bespoke qualifications. In the time I have worked for Ingeus I have helped over 350 clients in to sustainable employment. An important aspect of my day to day role was to maintain certain minimum standards and to hit mandatory KPI’s. These included seeing a minimum number of clients per day, completing certain amounts of job applications with them, completing mock interviews with relevant clients and progressing them through Ingeus’ journey of the work programme.

South Shields

As a facilitator, my role was to deliver a tailored employability package to groups of up to 20 clients of all ages and backgrounds for 2 weeks at a time, my only measure was how many of the clients found work up to 6 weeks after completion of the programme. I created lesson plans and sessions as well as constantly quality checking by getting feedback from the clients on what areas, if any, needed improving. As I only had 2 weeks to work with these clients it was extremely important for me to build positive relationships to gain a good buy in. Ingeus UK was awarded the new employability contract so I was offered a new contract with Ingeus

Peterlee

My role included much of the same as above but with one difference; focusing more on the learner journey in education as this was a college setting. I specialised in offering advice and guidance in apprenticeships and training as well as volunteering opportunities. Worked with clients aged between 18 to 24 and 25+, the two different client groups offered their own barriers, long unemployment gaps, criminal convictions and lack of experience. Working Links won the contract to take over New Deal so I was offered a contract with Working Links.

Peterlee

Initially worked for Walkers as an advanced apprentice in Business Administration I quickly worked my way to assistant manager in the learning centre Walkers had on site. Although I still undertook administration duties I was also responsible for establishing a working relationship with learners from within the factory as well as in the local community, going to regular meetings with councillors, local small and medium businesses and managers within the Walkers’ factory, our customer base was split between the general public and factory workers. I was responsible for fully utilising our LearnDirect allocated funding, we got a pot of money to use for learners training packages and as we weren’t a profit-making business all of our funding was then put back in to the centre to generate more training. I delivered training packages in IT, supported learning in Literacy and Numeracy and also delivered customised training dependant on customer needs and wants.
