A senior commercial leader with deep experience in getting early stage major programmes underway by establishing the commercial regime and getting startup contracts running and then delivering ongoing robust procurement at pace. He has also transformed existing commercial ‘procurement police' functions to client focussed teams, becoming genuine enablers; and has unblocked major contract delivery by changing the organisation’s commercial stance from adversarial master/slave, to collaborative delivery. He has done this in major capital programme environments (Olympic Delivery Authority, UK Parliament Restoration & Renewal Delivery Authority) and Central Government (Home Office); involving major procurement and delivery in professional services, construction, and digital. To do this he uses a People/Process/Technology approach. He has repeatedly built high quality and high performing teams that deliver consistent progress and momentum, based on trust based relationships with business areas and other enabler functions. He builds appropriate procurement processes and governance and communicates this across the business to drive greater understanding and commerciality. Then to efficiently deliver in this framework he establishes robust digital tools for commercial delivery (Procurement, Evaluation, and Contract Management), P2P control to prevent uncontrolled spend, and single data source reporting.The result is high performing procurement teams, consistently producing demonstrably VFM contracts that are audit-robust. This is all vital for programmes and major organisations, not just in terms of service delivery, but also for stakeholder credibility - ‘we did what we said we would’.
