Responsibilities have included technical leadership for instrument development, generating system performance models, preparing proposals, coordinating cost and schedule estimates and managing cost and schedule throughout execution of studies.Led an engineering team in the development of a design for a high performance vacuum-ultraviolet imager that met demanding performance requirements while achieving cost and schedule targets.Prepared detailed performance models for optical payloads spanning the ultraviolet, visible and infrared bands, to successfully demonstrate design compliance with performance requirements. Investigated potential forest fire monitoring from space including payload concept, simulation and mission support.Performed technical lead role for MOPITT, a large gas correlation radiometer used to monitor carbon monoxide and methane atmospheric levels. This compact and leading edge design allowed a successful build and test program which met all project requirements for performance, cost and schedule. Supported customer meetings with ESA, the CSA and the Principal Investigator.Managed a feasibility study for a redesign of a sensor to significantly increase its capability, and successfully demonstrated the suitability of a new design and estimated the cost and schedule for its development. Managed the $1M integration contract for novel compact ion imaging sensor that was used on a satellite to make unique measurements of low energy charged particle distributions in space.Designed the Sensor Head for a unique low energy particle detector, including mechanical configuration, electric field control, and packaging of micro-channel plate assembly.
