DeeBee are a well established, successful and growing wholesale food and drinks business based in Grimsby.John’s role is working with DeeBee MD Nick Ramsden to develop freehold retail store locations to trade under the Today’s brand for the company that will be serviced with the majority of their stock requirements through the DeeDee warehouse in Grimsby and the new one that opened in Hull in 2016.Additional areas of support include advising the board on strategic matters.

Making A Difference Locally is a registered charity that was launched in 2008 to help independently-run local stores that are in membership of Nisa to add value in their communities by making specific donations to local charities or good causes within their locality - such as local football teams, hospices or one of a thousand charities that run throughout the UK. The scheme is truly local as money is raised by local stores over time through the sale of specific products in their stores.Having been a trustee from the outset, bearing in mind good corporate governance, John resigned from this position because after seven great years, it was time for new trustees to take this important charity forward.www.makingadifferencelocally.com

Vow is a trading division of the VC backed Vasanta Group that has been merged with Office2Office to form Evo Business Supplies Limited. Evo is by far the largest office supplies business in the UK and Ireland with sales of £660m and distributes over 24,000 products from its three automated distribution centres in England and Ireland to over 4,000 resellers and customers.Through my consultancy business, John Heagney Consulting Limited, I worked on the start-up of the exciting, cutting edge and innovative bokz project, a complete end to end reseller business solution. This involved working closely with the bokz executive team and successful independent resellers, helping them to remove duplicated cost, increase profitability and unlock the inherent value of the resellers’ businesses.

The overall control of the rapidly growing Nisa Symbol group was John’s key responsibility and this is an area that he thoroughly enjoyed – his main motivation being the delivery of highly successful stores for the Nisa retail membership through the development of the group’s burgeoning Symbol stores – and having an eye for retail detail!All store development for the group was also under John's control

Joining Heagneys – his family’s long established Teesside-based business - in 1970, progressed through the ranks to become Managing Director in 1975. At the time Nisa was founded, John’s company operated just three stores. In the first year of operation of Nisa, Heagney’s joined the fledgling buying group as a retail member.As Nisa grew, Heagneys followed suit - store numbers increased to 12 and in late 1999, John sold the business to fellow Nisa member, Day & Nite stores.
