Liquidating/Managing Trustee – 8/2012 -9/2013 • Bakken Oil Partnership with producing assets and acreage in the Madison, Bakken, and Three Forks Formations in North Dakota • Trust was created to purchase all the land leases owned by Chesapeake (NYSE: CHK) in North Dakota in 1999 totaling over 70,000 net acres. • Appointed Trustee by a majority of the partners to commence the sale of assets in liquidation and take control from prior trustee who was removed and deemed delinquent in liquidation and management duties, and was suspected of fraud. The fraud was verified, whereby the leases were let to expire for PZW but in reality were simply renewed by another entity owned by the former Trustee. • Performed well valuations, verified lease ownership and history with “landmen”; negotiated asset sales with major E&P companies; managed partnership interests during liquidation and managed legal interactions which were contentious. • Forensic investigation of the history of the partnership to uncover assets misappropriated or misreported by the former managing partner and trustee, resulting in a private settlement valued at over $200mm.
