Owned and operated a real estate development company. Projects included residential and commercial development in the Center City area of Philadelphia and South Jersey. Activities included analyzing markets, acquiring properties, designing, acquiring zoning and building permits, acquiring financing including managing funds from investors and lenders, analyzing cash flow and controlling costs. Other responsibility included acting as general contractor which included bidding and negotiating for competitive material and labor prices, planning/scheduling, developing scope of work and contracts, and sales. Projects under management totaled $10 million. Return on investment at 2008 was approximately 100%. 13 total projects completed.

Developed and ran trading operations in a new electronic options exchange - The International Securities Exchange. New venture included research and selection of trading software, procurement of the hardware system and maintaining a business relationship with the exchange. Daily operations included the responsibility of providing continual options markets on over 40 stocks, performing volatility analysis, executing options and stock trades, and managing portfolio/risk. Managed over $100 million in stock and options positions.

Developed this role to conduct studies such as cost and breakeven analysis to help define the company’s business plan. Performed contract per trader surveys and edge analysis to determine strategic placement of company traders on the trading floor. Also developed a training program for prospective traders. Provided options theory classes and mock trading sessions for trainees.

Disseminated continual options markets on over 25 stocks as the Specialist in a trading pit of the Philadelphia Stock Exchange to provide the proper trading environment for the market makers in the pit. Responsibilities included executing trades, maintaining orderly markets, determining correct trade splits with the crowd, developing rapport with brokers and order flow providers, and managing portfolio/risk.

Managed new construction and maintenance projects for existing refinery operating at near maximum capacity. Project DescriptionMaintenance budget under management was approximately $10 million per year and new capital projects under management were between $25 million to $50 million per year. Projects included installation of new processing plants such as a sulfur plant and a cumene plant. Projects also included upgrades or installation of new distillation towers, heat exchangers, heaters, boilers, cooling towers, storage tanks and piping. Most projects were turn key operations. Project phases included - developing the scope of work including the engineering, procuring funds, procuring competitive bids for materials and labor, developing the schedule, developing contracts, and coordinating efforts with the plant process operations department and field construction supervisors. Most work was outsourced. Daily activities included - working closely with process engineers to assist in developing conceptual designs, working closely with outsourced engineering firms to develop the scope of work and coordinating efforts with draft technicians, controls/electrical engineers, the quality assurance department, the inspection department, the safety department, and the environmental department for each project. Additional responsibilities included the development and management of a reliability program to optimize life expectancy of equipment.
