General ManagerSyris Scientific, Llc Apr 1997 - Apr 2000Total enterprise management position in a high tech medical equipment startup based upon technology transfer from Harvard Medical School's Wellman Laboratories, the largest medical laser research facility in the world. Position included feasibility analysis, new product concepts, guidance of DFM (design for manufacture) as well as "price point back" value engineering to accomplish cost of products from manufacturer which would allow business plan generated retail product price points. Syris's number one mission was to sell product, and direct management of the sales force as well as personally selling key OEM's was a focal point of this position. Part of this thrust was worldwide distribution channel building including managers in Europe and the Middle East. Facilitated new product evaluation though efficacy analysis with world leading Physicians; intellectual property administration (patents and trademarks, domestic and international), full financial responsibilities including management of dangerous (yet successful) heavily front loaded marketing expenses of a startup which pioneered a new product sector. Took this unique product development and marketing company from 1 part time employee to 6 full time employees, 3 contract engineers, and worldwide distribution and name recognition with 25% in foreign sales and a solid pretax profit which exceeded plan. Syris contracted manufacturing and the majority of engineering development to Enercon Technologies, thus minimizing staffing in house. Syris web site: syrisscientific.com.
