About John Thompson

I am a global operational executive who excels at building and managing innovative, growth-oriented data and technology organizations across multiple industries.A recommendation from John Swainson, my direct manager at Dell - "John took over the Statsoft business unit after we bought it and basically created a new organization from scratch. The company had a great product, but nothing in the way of organized sales and marketing, and John hired the team and put together a channel strategy that should ultimately result in a fast-growing business. John is very knowledgeable about data and analytics and is very credible in front of customers and employees." My expertise is in dynamically transforming organizations while delivering reliable performance from individuals and teams spanning - product development, marketing, revenue generation, strategy, and back office operations.Teams under my guidance and leadership have raised their level of execution and have consistently delivered results far above what was previously assumed to be the norm.As a leader and general manager, I have spearheaded efforts to build and maintain environments conducive to team members coalescing around transformational goals for the attainment of short- and long-term objectives.By working directly with customers and prospects I have facilitated multi-million dollar deals that resulted in accelerated revenue and organizational growth. Being personally involved in the process of customer engagement has informed and driven collaborative innovations that enrich products and services.I have led briefings and presentations for investors, technology and financial analysts, partners, customers, and prospects that have resulted in new and additional rounds of investment, new logo sales, expansion in existing clients and industry accolades, and acknowledgement including having multiple products being named a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant.

Both a handbook and a manifesto, Data for All is a must-read for anyone who wants to take control of their personal data. It lays out how businesses collect, use, and exploit your data, and clearly explains the legislation that will overturn the existing system. Follow my direct and accessible guidance and you’ll completely change your relationship with your data.Sixty years ago, data was not something anyone thought about, because the amount of data we created over our lifetimes was minuscule, disconnected, hard to create, and nearly impossible to access, manage, change, or use for any purposes beyond the specific purpose that the data was created for. In this book, I am talking about ALL data that we create about ourselves as individuals, and all the data that the companies and entities that we interact with have and do create about us. Let's discuss data and how you can become the primary beneficiary of your data. + How can you monetize your data? + What is a data dividend? + How can you support the people/causes you care about through proactive management of your data?+ How can your data work for you?
