In 2002 I moved to Wood Group, as General Manager for the Sulzer Wood JV, followed by MD at Light Industrial Turbines, and then corporate commercial director for a £600M+ Gas Turbines group of companies and subsidiaries.I spent a year between 2011 and 2012 as MD at ASCO leading a £500M+ global oil & gas services business. In 2012, I was recruited by Granite International to direct a £200M+ European operation delivering engineering and technical services to oil & gas, renewable and power generation markets. I am an influential communicator with extensive experience working with C-suite leaders, business partners, stakeholders and PE investors to overcome obstacles and resolve problems to establish cost-effective and efficient in-country operations that meet company and client needs. • Fieldcore (Previously Granite Services International Inc)
    European Managing Director
Fieldcore (Previously Granite Services International Inc) 2012 - 2018
    Bracknell
I joined what was Granite International to drive organisational and transformational change across a 2,000-strong workforce and a sub-£100M business unit that had been remotely managed from the US and had undergone a 20% decline in revenues.I defined the European vision and target operating model and executed business strategy and change roadmap which completely restructured the organisation, simplified practices and drove operational improvements resulting in a cost base reduction of 40%+ and decrease in safety issues by 10x. Through establishing a world-class multiskilled organisation that could react, execute and deliver solutions 30 to 40% quicker and more effectively than previously imagined, and through onboarding new products and services, I was able to double revenues, boost margins and significantly improve EBIT.Due to the success and recognition that the business unit gained, I was requested to integrate other GE Power business units’ products and contracts and transfer an additional 600 people from 16 countries, which delivered solutions to GE that were previously unobtainable. The process and methodologies I established have formed the basis for the global model for the new FieldCore venture.
  • Asco Group Limited
Managing Director - Uk & Central Europe
    Asco Group Limited 2011 - 2012
    Aberdeen
I was recruited by the CEO to provide strategic and operational leadership to a £500M+ oil & gas logistics, transportation and fuel trading organisation which was in some turmoil after losing a major account to one of its competitors and was in the process of tendering for new / renewal of five-year contracts with other clients. I quickly established a higher than average cost position within the industry and identified opportunities to reduce costs and become more competitive. I onboarded unions and employees and actively drove cost containment, waste elimination and process improvement programmes culminating in double-digit reductions.Through relationship building, effective communications and astute commercial negotiations I successfully retained all existing client contracts and established strategic partnerships with new companies, such as Castrol Lubricants to secure additional multi-year £MM contracts to provide services and solutions.
  • Wood Group Gas Turbine Services
    Commercial Director
Wood Group Gas Turbine Services 2007 - 2010
    Aberdeen, United Kingdom
Due to the commercial success in my previous role, I was approached to join corporate and lead development and delivery of structured and harmonised commercial practices to mitigate risks across 10 group companies and subsidiaries generating over £680M in annual revenues. I created standardised T&Cs, authored a Commercial Handbook, established an intercompany trading framework and led a team of four to embed best practices across all group companies. I implemented robust governance, risk management and control frameworks backed up with technology solutions that tracked tenders / awards to assure requisite approvals and compliance to corporate policies and international laws.I reviewed and mitigated risk exposure of contracts and streamlined the global sales agent and representative organisation by 81% without any impact on customer relations or revenue generation.
  • Wood Group Light Industrial Turbines Ltd
    Managing Director
Wood Group Light Industrial Turbines Ltd 2005 - 2007
    Aberdeen, United Kingdom
I was handpicked to transform a loss-making £MM business unit with client relations, contract, product delivery, cost management, quality, certification and maintenance support issues that had severely impacted brand reputation in the power and oil & gas sector. I assessed and devised a radical change management programme based on simplification and standardisation to drive improvements across a 150-strong workforce. I quickly stabilised the global organisation, resolved client issues and established the business strategy and change roadmap that began a radical simplification and standardisation programme to deliver fully fit-for-purpose operation. Within two years, I had achieved profit, substantially reduced the cost of quality, increased revenues, margins and market share and recovered the brand’s reputation.
  • Sulzer Wood Limited
    General Manager

    Aberdeen, United Kingdom
I devised, implemented and lead growth strategy and delivered major improvements for a stagnant joint venture business consisting of 130-strong workforce providing seals, pumps and compressor services to the North Sea Oil & Gas industry.I addressed operational costs and process inefficiency, expanded skill set and service offerings, created strategic alliances and won new business, which boosted revenues by 36%, increased EBIT 100% and achieved No.1 segment service provider. I also secured first and second non-OEM compressor support contracts to be awarded within the UK Continental Shelf.
  • Alstom Power
    Contract Manager
    Alstom Power 1996 - 2002
