I am a partner in private legal practice in Aberdeen. My areas of knowledge and expertise are heritable property and private client, particularly wills and executry work. I obtained my degree at Aberdeen University and also obtained post graduate qualification in Construction Law and Arbitration at Robert Gordon University.I am a Notary Public, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and I am a member of the Society of Trust and Executry Practitioners – STEP. My interest in law and education led to my position as a Tutor in Advocacy and Pleading and, after a short break, as a lecturer in Private Client in the highly regarded Law School at Aberdeen University. For almost the entire duration of my career, I have had an involvement in the operations of Aberdeen Solicitors’ Property Centre Limited - ASPC. Since 2001, I have held the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors. Along with Moira Allan, the Chief Executive, I am responsible for the direction and coordination of what is widely regarded locally as a valuable public service.I am an experienced, competent lawyer and manager with a good spread of knowledge and skills and a reputation for reliability and openness. I have a clear mind and any decisions I take are well informed and carefully considered. With the application of experience and personal judgement, I can usually identify an innovative solution for most problems.
