Queensland had not won a Sheffield Shield, the ultimate prize in Australian domestic cricket competition in 69 years of trying.In John Buchanan's first year as head coach, the 'Holy Grail' was brought to Queensland and so began a 10 year period of domination of domestic cricket by Queensland.During his 5 years as head coach, the Sheffield was won 2 times and the domestic One Day championship was also won 2 times.John Buchanan was noted for a number of innovations during his time with the Bulls, notably -- the first coach to introduce computer technology to aid analysis of the game and feedback to players- changing the culture of the Bulls to greater accountabilities, responsibilities and inclusion of all players, support staff and families- changing the training systems- greater integration of sports science to the training and recovery methods of all players- dealing with the whole person rather than just seeing each person as athlete only- driving the process of getting results through use of statistics as the main measurement standards
