John obtained a degree in Physics from the University of Oxford and a PhD from the University of Cambridge in Solid State Physics. Before entering the patent profession John was a research fellow in solid state physics at the University of Cambridge and then in low temperature physics at the Institut Laue Langevin, Grenoble. John also has a degree in ComputingJohn has been a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys and European Patent Attorney for over 20 years and represents clients from multinationals to individuals. On the patent side John specialises in the fields of mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering and also software John has particular expertise in the fields of telecommunication systems, automotive engineering and software systems.John regularly gives talks on subjects in the fields of patent and trade mark law and teaches a course in Intellectual Property at the University of York. John is also involved in the training and examination of trainee patent attorneys.
