Software Engineer for Gravity Web Services. One of the first dozen engineers hired, I worked on 3 generations of our analytics offerings, leading the two major versions of our Gravity Analytics web application framework - an interest graph-powered solution accurately showing content providers what their audience is truly interested in. I worked directly with BizDev, Product and Ops to implement and deliver solutions that transformed complex data sets into analytics and visualizations that help our partners comprehend how to convert the relationship between their content and audience into revenue. I was neck deep in PHP, Zend Framework, JavaScript/jQuery, Angular, MySQL, HTML5, CSS3 and various data visualization libraries. Responsibilities include designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining and supporting the customers of our front-end web application framework and data-mart in a clustered Apache web tier. Daily programming tasks include creating PHP- and AJAX-based JSON-formatted APIs through a PHP/Zend service framework to multiple data stores (MySQL, Redis, Scala/HBase). I created and implemented nearly all of our customer facing product data visualizations using web friendly packages such as Highcharts, D3, FusionCharts and other common libraries. I created or maintained and have extensively tested all of our PHP- and JS-powered partner plugins. I contributed to or tested our analytics collection endpoints and developed some ETL maintenance scripts using PHP, JavaScript and Python. I have contributed code or influenced the design of code that transmits, touches or represents nearly every inbound signal we process (tens of millions of signals daily). I also maintain our corporate web site including our Labs page and have built countless administration tools and UIs that aid customer support and internal operations. Embedded Test Automation.Created an extensible automated test suite that verified a variety of IFE systems and platform types. Automation code was delivered using a thumb drive. Designed and promoted SQA process across my team, department and across other departments in the engineering organization. My defined process and test automation was designed to save Panasonic $1-3M in loaded operating costs per platform release.Before my departure, I laid the groundwork (planning, purchasing, scripting, architectural reviews, etc.) for a Selenium-based automation testing framework for a PHP/Zend Framework based web application suite that was still under development.

Foundstone was acquired by McAfee, Inc in 2004.I was the hands-on leader of the test automation effort and did it all.From purchasing, racking and wiring the automation hardware platforms, to evaluating scripting tools and vendors, to designing and coding the script framework, to helping expand the QA team at hq through hiring, to managing off-shore coders and presenting ROI metrics for the effort to the C-level at McAfee.Test coverage included fully automated build installation, acceptance testing, feature and regression testing and reports and notifications.The effort saved nearly $1M in loaded cost effort per product release.

I was hired to be the sole automation engineer of the QA team (5 total) and expanded the use of WinRunner automation through the development of an automated test framework. I also lead the initiative to employ TestDirector as our primary test management system. Administrator of Foundstone's Engineering department's change management system TestTrack. Provided extensive manual test coverage as the feature set expanded rapidly through multiple product releases during this period of the company's history, including weekly releases of our vulnerability library. Completely overhauled our Vuln Lab used to validate full compliment of product features. Lab modifications and improvements included networking (cables, switching, domains, etc.) and scan target system configurations (OS versions, security patches, weakening and hardening, grouping, domains, etc). Lab automation and tooling improvements include employing NIST tools to simulate large scale Class A networks, Shunra network quality and variation simulations and custom automation for remote and quality control of lab assets. Collaborated with 3rd party vendors to integrate various 3rd party tools for lab use. Responsible for UAT testing of our initial hardware offering FS1000. Collaborated with members of the QA team to help setup and maintain live test facilities with local and remote academic institutions in Southern California (UCSD, UCI, Harvey Mudd). Responsible for documentation (diagrams, schematics, process, etc.) for all of the above.

Contract position (extended original 3 months contract until the 2 year mark). I was hired to build an automated performance test harness for verifying the load and scalability of a new customer service web-based n-tier system that was built to replace the 30+ individual applications used to service customers. Environment was clustered and connected to Fidelity's enterprise-class customer, market, and holdings information databases. Performance automation tool was WebLOAD which used Javascript to create SOAP/XML transactions over HTTP through the use of virtual users queued up on multiple HW 'cannons' to drive transaction load and various scalability transaction profiles against the system.

Entry level applications tester for SmartSuite and the java suite of office productivity apps.Primary focus was verifying the embedded browser integration features in the product. Testing focused on cross-browser and cross-platform testing of SmartSuite's SmartCenter desktop toolbar. I tested this product from it's inaugural release (1996) through to SmartSuite ME. Reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM_Lotus_SmartSuiteCross-browser testing conducted by myself and a teammate identified that a dynamic link library (url.dll) was acting as a tollbooth for all OS application access to the internet. This meant that access to the internet was not possible (for other web browsers) on the windows OS without IE being installed first. This fact was ended up being one of many artifacts in the monopoly law suit brought against Microsoft (aka the browser wars).Participated in multiple UI usability and design studies conducted in Lotus' world class usability lab.Identified and reported large scale overseas Lotus software pirating operation.Recruited to become early member of the high touted Lotus JavaSuite team, a Sun java OS based suite of office productivity solutions designed to run on a variety of thin client hardware platforms being developed by IBM, Sun and Oracle. I was responsible for helping to setup the new hardware and networks and debugged initial configurations of those two components along with Lotus' initial JavaSuite pre-alpha builds.

In the Promotions Dept., I worked for "Cha-Chi" Loprete and Jason Steinberg, helping organize, setup and run in-store, on-site and live broadcast contests and events promoting various entertainment, beverage and product campaigns. In the Production Dept., I was an assistant to John Reilly. I created popular station ids, sweepers and breaks. I produced commercials and provided voices for product and event advertising campaigns. For a brief period of time, I was the Production Director for the long running "Big Mattress" morning show with Charles Laquidara. I was also a producer for live, remote-live and pre-recorded broadcasts and a board-op for live station events and syndicated satellite programming such as The Howard Stern Show.
