Broke into the music industry in 2007 after accepting a job with Archer Records. Spent 3 years managing the label's publishing arms, handling contracts and copyrights, pursuing domestic and international licensing opportunities, coordinating radio and print publicity campaigns, managing websites, newsletters and email lists, and assisting with artist and label brand development.While working for Archer in 2007, I helped found a national arts and culture blog with writers in 3 other national markets: New York, Washington, DC and Chicago. I reviewed albums and live performances as well as creating featured content and serving as assistant editor for content.From 2010-2014 I served as the Manager of the Music Resource Center with the nonprofit Memphis Music Foundation, where we provided educational seminars, print and online resources, and industry benefits for our members from the community's music industry. Our task was to incubate music businesses within the city as well as to help artists develop career paths through programming, one-on-one planning, and by providing relevant opportunities within the industry in Memphis and nationally.In 2014, I launched Misspent Records in Memphis with Chaney Nichols. We release 7" singles for local and regional bands.I also book artists for the annual Indie Memphis Film Festival and other freelance opportunities in Memphis. Past booking experience includes Cooper Young Festival, Lafayette's Music Room, and the Court Square Concert Series, as well as individual shows at venues including The Hi Tone Cafe, 1884 Lounge, B-Side, Murphy's, and Bar DKDC, among others.Since 2017 I have served as a board member for Music Export Memphis, a nonprofit focused on providing funding and a variety of opportunities for local touring artists and industry professionals.You can usually find me at Shangri-La Records.
