Education: Graduate of Oregon State University with an Honors BS in Mechanical Engineering. Took part in the ATLANTIS program, a one-year exchange program offered by OSU, and earned a degree in Materials Science from the Universität des Saarlandes in Saarbrücken, German. Conducted undergraduate research on the topic of Bulk Metallic Glass with Dr. Donghua Xu of the Materials Science department at OSU and with Prof. Ralf Busch at UdS. Successfully defended honors thesis on the topic: "Effects of Nickel Addition in Cu-Zr-Hf-Al Metallic Glass Matrix".Work: Employed as a student intern in the R&D department at ATI Specialty Components and Alloys in Albany, Oregon, during the final two terms of university at Oregon State. Quickly became a main contributor in a proposed friction stir weld process that would replace the previously used EB weld process. Tasks for the project included: building a bill of materials, reaching out to vendors for purchasing information, generating designs for components, making iterations to those initial designs, creating a SOLIDWORKS animation used to present the proposed process to the customer, and working closely with machinists on and off site to stay within the timeline of the project. This project was overseen by Nicholas Cunningham, a senior engineer at ATI.
