In addition to my full-time role as the MacArthur Foundation Chief Information Officer, I also serve as Co-Director of the Philanthropy Data Commons. https://www.philanthropydatacommons.org.The Philanthropy Data Commons (PDC) is a shared sector-wide governance and technical infrastructure that fosters trust, enables new ways of managing data and information as a sector asset, creates more possibilities in our collective work, and spurs more equitable access to resources in philanthropy.The PDC was initiated by a group of funders, changemakers, and others working in the sector looking to democratize data sharing throughout the sector and create more access to funding or community-based changemakers. It started with a Minimal Viable Coalition and the PDC Proof of Concept and transitioned to an extensive pilot from 2022 - 2024. The PDC is now moving from pilot to production in 2025.

I was recruited to transform the foundation’s IT infrastructure, business applications environment, and technology services and support the global operations of a 200-person organization. Through a complete overhaul of technology and elevating the team’s capabilities I positioned the IT organization as a trusted business partner who consistently delivers 99.9+% global business systems availability across Chicago, India, Nigeria and Mexico City teams. Transformation Impact:• Rebuilt IT infrastructure and architecture from top to bottom to support all new enterprise systems. • Transitioned the organization to a Cloud / SaaS environment for all grant management and business systems. • Elevated enterprise cybersecurity levels through careful management of risk challenges and threats. In two different roles I managed 10 integrated applications enabling several core institutional systems and led daily operations of a 24-person department with 10 direct reports. I served as the IT Services Liaison and trusted partner to Campus & Student Life division including Registrar, Bursar, Housing, Athletics, Career Services, International Affairs, and Healthcare Services.My teams completed several critical systems implementation projects including automating the admissions process supporting 25K+ applicants each year, delivered a web-enabled financial aid platform, and a complex core system upgrade to replace the student data platform.I served on a four-member ombudsperson team reporting directly to the CITO, aimed at improving culture, morale, and communication. In partnership with the Registrar, I co-developed the Digital Transcript Project co-authored a Whitepaper on the pioneering use of digital transcripts in higher education.

Advanced to the senior leadership role for internal web services consulting operation supporting the University’s core website and associated departmental, school, and program pages. I managed a $5M annual budget with P&L responsibility for the department and led a team of 22 who designed and built award-winning websites and enterprise web applications as the institution moved from a paper-based environment to a technology enabled ecosystem.

Led operations supporting MountainZone.com revenue growth from $250K to an annual run rate of $12M. Launched award-winning e-commerce system, named Forbes.com “Best of the Web” Summer 2000.

Managed operational issues as revenue exploded with 20% growth month over month for 18 consecutive months. Online Interactive is a wholly owned subsidiary of CDW, a leader in electronic software distribution.
