A joint venture between fighters Steve Moxon and Johnny Bourke, MMA by the bay was the first event of its kind to hit Geelong. Steve has run many successful Muay Thai and MMA shows in the past, of which Johnny has both competed in and assisted with. They joined forces to bring an event like no other to their hometown.For those who don't know, MMA is a full-contact sport that combines different fighting styles including karate, boxing, kickboxing, wrestling, Vale Tudo, Muay Thai and Brazilian Ju jitsu. MMA by the Bay brings Pro MMA shows to Geelong, never seen before in the region.

Main Event Fitness was founded by John Bourke in 2013 after John took up Muay Thai training as a way to get fit and lose weight. Battling obesity, taking up Muay Thai was a life-changing decision for John as he lost almost 40 kilograms in the first year. John quit his full-time job working in IT and studied to receive his Diploma of Fitness. Upon completing his Diploma John opened Main Event Fitness in Breakwater to follow his dream. Within a year the business had outgrown the studio and John moved the business to Geelong West where he opened Geelong’s best fight gym.
