In this role I am responsible for overseeing the transmission and distribution of Riot Games’ eSports tournaments. My general tasks and duties include :Transmitting our live events on multiple platforms - primarily Youtube and Twitch, and troubleshooting any on-air issues that arise with our transmission. Managing the inbuilt system redundancy to ensure that minimum disruption to services is caused by equipment failures.Critical assessment of video and audio contribution feeds, proactive monitoring with rapid action to restore service using pre-defined emergency procedures.Monitoring of all transmission equipment and software, escalating faults accordingly.Coordinating the OTT distribution paths of World Feeds and other feed variants to international MCRs and remote broadcasters, as well as being their direct point of contact should they have any issues with their feeds.Assisting other departments with signals/feeds and the ingesting of media.

My role as a Transmission Controller at Setanta Sports requires me to monitor live on-air broadcasts and ensure the smooth playout of both live and pre-programmed events on our channels at all times. As a member of the transmissions department I have to communicate and work effectively with my team members on a daily basis. I am very much accustomed to a live broadcast environment with both small and large teams and, given the nature of live sports broadcasting, and I am used to adapting to last minute changes, improvising and making split-decisions when something goes wrong, and keeping calm under pressure. My general tasks and duties include :• Operation of Automation Presentation Systems.• Construction and detailed meticulous checking of daily Playlist Schedules.• Quality control of incoming live and taped programming.• Recording incoming feeds to Video Servers.• Correct positioning of on-screen graphics (ie. logos, crawls, betting straps, etc.)• Timecode Logging of recorded programming.• Audio and Video Monitoring to the highest standards.• Providing timely feedback to Programming and Scheduling departments.• Configuring the audio settings for voiceover recordings.

As a Script Supervisor working on film/tv sets I would be on the lookout for inconsistencies and continuity errors as they occurred, and then correct them for the next take to ensure that everything would cut together correctly when handed over to the post-production department. In order to work effectively I would break down the script(s) during pre-production in order to alert myself and other departments as to what mistakes we should take the steps to avoid and what mistakes to be on the lookout for. During a shooting day I would make notes throughout each scene as they were shot and create a reference bible to be handed off to the editors which would indicate to them which takes to use and why. Some of my credits include : ‘The Young Offenders’ (Series 2 - Episode 5), ‘Darklands’ (Episodes 3&4), a feature film titled ‘Overnight’, and a pilot titled ‘TX’.

This role was my entry into the film industry and involved doing a bit of everything and required me to learn fast. During a day’s shooting I would be responsible for:• Handing out callsheets and walkie-talkies to all crew members in the morning.• Getting cast members and extras through hair, makeup, and wardrobe in a timely fashion.• Locking off the set so that the crew members could work without being disturbed.• Liaising with my department via walkie-talkie all day and carrying out tasks for them.• Relaying vital information on the walkie channels to appropriate crew members.• Making sure that actors, extras and dailies were made to feel welcome and looked after.My credits include : ‘Vivarium’ (Feature film), ‘Bridget & Eamon’ (Series 4), and ‘The Martini Shot’ (Feature Film)

As the projectionist in my local cinema I was responsible for downloading all the films and commercials to our projectors servers, creating the playlist for the night’s showing, ensuring that all required commercials were queued into the showings, changing the projector lenses for certain films/trailers, and general monitoring and quality control of the sound a picture of each film.
